This is a sad industry - why you should always wear life jackets.
No one figures life insurance won't pay your family until you're found.

So, so very sad. Prayers for him and his family. I started fishing there at about the same time and spent many days and nights on that jetty. Fishing definitely kept me out of trouble. My son is 17, I could not imagine.

In high school I was mating on charter boats and fishing definitely kept me out of (more) trouble too. There were a few of us who worked on the water. It was also those years that I first had a friend die doing the same things I was doing. Billy Daniel was a 16-year-old classmate and friend who was digging clams at Rampasture Point in Hampton Bays when he lost his footing, got swept off the bar he was working on, and couldn't get out of his waders in time. Back then the suspender clasps were made of a riveted metal post which often rusted off. We would all tie them through the hole that was left after the clasp rusted out. Never thought twice about it. There but for the grace of God goes each of us.

KF-
Yep. I know the feeling
The young man from CM was very close friends with my best friends sisters son.
He's the fellow that started the go fund me.
An all around sad story
This boys are no different than both our sons. Good kids.
