Headed out for some sea bass fishing the morning leaving the harbor looked to be a beautiful day, had 11B in mind weatherman 1ft or less all I can say is WOW were they off tried drifting over some bottom and hanging on for the ride felt more like a rodeo ride more then fishing, managed some porgies and a few small sea bass called it a day. Makes you wonder ?about those guys. Will give it go for the opener blackfish maybe they will get there forecast better next time be safe everyone

I know many anglers that were unable to sail for the entire tog season last year. We need someone to turn off the fans!

I was checking weather all last week....I knew sat was the better day, but sunday looked nice with NE 5-10. Having a busy sat, I decided to fish sun early am..incoming and NE winds should work. Came out of the inlet to find it was an easy NE 15-20...not great but fishable, so I changed my game plan of trying to fish by 11B with the hard full moon current. Stayed around Eatons and dealt with the tight chop and occasional 4 foot rollers on the hook. It wasn't horrible but I felt like I was still on the boat in the shower at home.

I knew better but went out yesterday, my son and I were headed to Niantic, got as far as New Haven harbor where we fished a huge school of bunker that were getting hammered by small blues, it was not 1 foot or less by any means, the wind was cranking out of the NE, we ventured over to Stratford light house buoy 20, threw the hook out and between tide and wind we were taking big waves over the transom, even though I have a splash guard, the water was making it's way into the boat, so we called it quits and headed in, it's not fun anymore.

same here on south shore east end yesterday. way windier and sloppier than predicted. didnt even bother running out to reef knowing the drift would be way too fast

Seems NOAA is getting worse each year. Maybe they're relying on computer modeling too much.
Last Thursday it was the same. They called for NW 8-12 but it was SW 20+. It gets dangerous depending only on their forecast lately.

I couldn't agree more with everyone's comments! I use 5 different sources and two live radars. With most, I learned long ago to always double the wind speeds. All offer something of value but not everything except one site that is spot on every time. You have to read through the data but it's always spot on! Here you go friends ► Long Island Sound, NY ocean water temperature today. United States
