Gave the fluke on last shot yesterday The usual spot was barren, no marks, no sea bass or ling. Ended up a few miles farther offshore , found a few marks and ended up with one at 6.5 and dropped another that felt the same. That was it. 105 feet, 12" fluke belly strip, Peruvians , blades and GLOW beads and squid, teaser the same.

Damn that’s some deep fluking. I’m sure anyone you catch out that way is a nice sized fish.

For us this year the deep was a bust until mid August, while in years past it fired up as soon as the dogfish left. This rig has been the ticket for the last 5 years . tied on 50 ,6/0s , 6” between hooks lotsa glow. Teaser is 6/0 with a glow squid over with one blade and 2 glo beads

Looks good and the best part is if they don’t catch you can tie a knot in the leader 2 inches up from the hook and give it to your wife as earrings.

Thanks for the pictures?
Where’s the weight?
Are you using a 3 way?

I use a 24” leader on the rig to a 3 way swivel with an 8” drop of 20lb mono as a breakaway when hung up. The leader is relatively short but dropping 100+ feet leads to the rig getting wrapped up if it’s any longer. Fishing 8 oz with a slow drift of 0 to .5 knots and it goes up from there. A breezy day and it’s the drift sock and up to 20 oz. that sucks but if the fish are there it’s worth it.
