This morning I ran out with my brother, my nephew & his girlfriend. Out at dawn hoping to run S down to Shrewsbury Rocks for some bottom fish and maybe to jig some blues, etc on the way. NWS called for NNE @ 5-10 but it was more like 20+mph. S of VZ we found some small blues and jigged a few. Ran out to the Rockaway jetty but there was nobody home. Tried to run to Sandy Hook but turned around due to sloppy conditions.
Ran back to J Bay and drifted fluke by MP Bridge. Picking at shorts for @ 1.5 hours. Afterwards, small blues popped up again and we jigged them until 2 dopey A's continued to troll through the birds until they broke up for good.
We've all seen this before, run around the working birds, shut down & drift into them. Works great until somebody drives through them trolling. If they stopped and threw a 007 jig they would have done well. As far as we could tell, they caught nothing and only ruined it for everyone else.

Same conditions at the AB Reef today only fished 45 minutes but I heard that it layed down at the change of tide.
