Ttoday started out as the usual sea bass and porgy trip- then we had a hungry visitor! It's not every day a party boat pulls in a shark of this size!

nice fish - however - would love to know how they hauled that in if they were rigged for sea bass & porgy...

Look at the photo and it looks like there's a Penn 50 setup there. Possibly it grabbed an easy meal and then was baited into a bite.

That's a lot of weight to swing up over the rail ...... would have loved to see some pictures of that maneuver ! Tail rope, three guys on gaffs maybe ?

Nice whip tail with sharks being so close to shore the last few yrs Its not uncommon for boats fishing for fluke seabass etc to carry a heavy setup for sharks etc

I would like to know how they made sure it was dead prior to lifting it on deck, can't imagine a live thresher on a head boat deck.

Maybe if I'm fishing Nantucket Shoals... ? ? ?

My neighbor just offered me an 80 bent butt setup, my first reaction was "Wow, can't wait to take that out cod fishing!!"

They always carry some gear like that on the boat. In the area their fishing I would too. That Race/Block Island area holds a lot of creatures like that this time of year.
