Took the boat out this morning from port jeff. Wind was much stiffer than forecasted so the ride out to the middle grounds was a bit nautical. (Is it me or does it seem that forecasting seems to get worse and worse. this year in particular has been terrible. i would say they are correct less than 25% of the time) fished a few hours of outgoing in the southern rip. Caught the usual schoolie bass and some blues. Was about to call it when i was surprised by a 35 inch bass on my small conventional jigging setup. 6' medium action slimwave with 1k baitcaster, 15lb braid and 30lb leader. nice fight. after that headed back to 11 to fluke a bit which was slow with one keeper and about a half dozen 15-17 inch fish. home before noon.

Nice surprise! Fluking has been abysmal in the sound this year.

Nice job on the bass and the fluke !!
I agree about the forecasting ..... it has been off. We were there last Friday on a forecast of around 5 out of the northeast. It was 15 SW when we headed out and got worse .....

Would be nice if the central sound buoy was online. It at least gave you an idea of conditions before heading out
