COBIA

Not my fish but feel this needs mentioning. A guy on FB just posted a picture of a keeper cobia caught off of one of the more infamous Reynolds Channel fishing piers. Nice catch. One hell of a lucky guy. Caught a very large one once off Jupiter FL. Best eating fish I ever had. His fish must've given him one hell of a fight. Can't imagine the scene. Fish of a lifetime given the location.

We have seen more and more Cobia over the years. It's all due to NYs strict laws that have kept the Omega fleet from taking bunker out of our waters. Combine that with the fact that more and more cobia are headed north you could very well see a targeted Cobia fishery here in NY. But I agree that must have been quite a surprise.

Caught my first cobia this year on Chesepeake bay ....... They make bluefish seem lame !! We had 6 one day up toCaught this monster a few years ago. Capt said it was the largest anyone has ever caught on his vessel. I never weighed or measured it. If I had to guess I would say about 55-60" in length.
39 1/2" !! ....... on bunker chunks !!
