You know that your having a bad day when your 9yr old grandson out fishes you and gives you some advise on fishingand catch’s a nice 21 in keeper and about a 12 shorts. When I asked him what was the trick to catching all them fluke he says. Grandpa you have to keep changing the the gulp after you catch a fish because the scent is gone. Total about 24 shorts and one keeper.

That sounds like a great day to me! Although you probably went through a lot of Gulp 🙂

Headed down to Great Kills Harbor to do a little surf fishing for fluke. Fished the last 3 hours of the incoming tide. Landed 4 more shorts using gulp 4" swimming mullet on a jig head. Water was clear and the winds were calm. My ratio of keepers to shorts remains the same : lots of shorts---0 keepers. I really don't mind that at all. It's all about the fishing and not the catching.
