Fished Rockaway inlet today on the outgoing. Decent short fluke action but water is still cold out front. Fished hard and salvaged the trip with 2 keeps. Standard bucktails and gulp.
By this time last year the fishing was much better in my area, guess this year its taking a while to heat up.

Saw a fleet of boats anchored in front of the roundhouse. Any idea what they were doing? Chunking?

I saw them also... almost thought porgies but figured too early and warer too cold. Didnt have any porgy gear... went to try fluke at the flats. No joy. Water was cold as you pointed out. Nothing very or even remotely consistent in the bay so far this year. Shame since there has been decreased pressure. Looks like that's changing though.

I heard they are getting blowfish and a few flounder.

Water was warmer last year at this time. Round house anchored up for stripers
