Passed there today as well. 2 draggers working just south of the VZ. Been there for a few weeks now. Makes you wonder how many bass get caught and don't make it up river.........

Foodies claim that grilled herring is delicious, but if grilled herring is, then grilled alewives and bunker would also be "delicious", and we all know how that would work out.

I tried a grilled herring appetizer at one of Portland's "shrine of the foodies" a few years back and it was far from being barely palatable. Didn't even finish it...

Was wondering what those boats were doing. I tried searching for info and couldn’t find anything relevant. Do you know the scope of what they are doing?
Is that big work barge with the cable reel part of it also?

speaking of Gravesend Bay, ya know the overpass to Bay 8 streets, as a youngster, i remember passing through on bicycle path and from the out flow there, seagulls would swim / hangout / nearby ( never understood why )…

ahead 60 years with bicycle from downtown manhattan, rolling through the area i could smell the strength of waste and nearer too the outflow the same bunch of gulls swimming about amongst the floating garbage waiting for tidbits… i noticed the strong discoloration of the drain water from the much clearer water bay water..

i’m guessing the Fisherman along the rails aren’t familiar with this, made me sad… cellfish…

Thanks for that. It's hard to find any real info on their progression.
