Headed out with Frank p to give fluke fishing a try. Got to the bridge and had instant life. We were the only boat at that time and the fat 17” 18” were chewing hard. I had one fish at 20” and then we got a little to close to bridge and I’m stuck in the rocks. So new rig and back at it now we have company. The bite got quiet as the tide fell off. But once she started running out the bite came back. Lots of real small fish and I mean small 8” 10” with bigger ones mixed in but no keepers coming up now. Now there’s party boats lots of private boats saw a few nets going over here and there. I’m pretty sure that’s my last fluke trip as I gear up for blackfish season. Was a beautiful morning and we certainly boated a lot of fish, just the keepers were hiding.

We put the fluke gear to bed last week. Bass and albies if they show. And hopefully on the fly. Missed a beautiful opportunity with a big albie on the fly last weekend again on the set. Did settle for one on a jig. Waiting on intel after the heave.

I too plan on giving it once last shot at the fluke
I thought last Saturday was it but…….
Tomorrow’s ocean forecast looks a bit lumpy and not ideal for targeting sea bass on my favorite pieces
Wind and tide/current look to be aligned for a ideal drift in the targeted area so I’ll give it a shot

I'm done. Went to the zoo Thursday, and will actually be enjoying our pool for a few days before closing it. Last trip in the backbay was just a short or two. I might go out with SWMBO on the tandem tomorrow or Monday but otherwise I will next hold a rod on the beach. (Unless there is a striper moratorium.) No way will I even think about going after Bambi's grandparents in this heat !
