This is great news and shows how the environment can repair itself with little changes over time. To bad the real message was lost with the political BS on Trump.

Good story for Lake Colden. To bad they couldn't get through the whole real story without getting into Politics.

Seems rather uncontroversial, whatever your political leanings. This administration is putting business interest over environmental conservation every chance they get.

If Trump walked on water, headline would read Trump can't swim - that's today's media.
Great news for the Adirondacks, I seem to recall another upstate lake that recovered a few years ago.

Probably has more to do with the cleaner coal burning plants in the midwest.

Haven't come across that one, the ones I recall read something like Trump Admin Rolls Back Clean Water Protections etc.

People can certainly argue that enviro laws impede profits, but let's not try to have it both ways.

In the context of this story, what Seggos said was entirely appropriate:

This progress is threatened by the constant assault from the Trump Administration on clean air and environmental programs, which is why we will continue to fight to ensure they do not unravel progress like this remarkable restoration.

On a little brighter side Lake Colden seems to have beat the system. Glad to see that. 🙂
I think JPD has it right. Since they had to install those stack scrubbers their emissions have come down. Perhaps not as much as everyone would like but they did help.

Quite a few years ago Great Northern in Millinocket and East Millinocket (paper company) had to install them and they brought their emissions down 20% +. So yeah it costs a bundle to install them but entirely worth the money. (Even if it is subsidized by the very entity that wrote the citation in the first place).
