From the Roccus Believe It Or Not Files: Mola Mola off my dock this evening!!!

So I'm pulling into my dock this evening and I see a surface disturbance. Looked like the tail of a shark trying to swim out of the shallows, but then I remarked, "That might be a Mola Mola!!!" As I motored toward it, I realized it was a Mola Mola, "Scarface" to be exact, the local one I've seen multiple times in the Bay, so named because of the scar across his face from a prop strike.

Now to get things in perspective, my dock is 1.6 nmi from the harbor entrance, which means it's 4.1 nmi from the open Gulf of Maine!!! Unbelievable!!!

That is crazy! Surprised how fast it’s swimming around.

It was a little freaked. I didn't get the camera out fast enough to record it when it beached itself. It was really going nuts...

For a pretty drunken sailor, a manatee with headfull of rockweed might look like a hot date!!
