Hello to old friends from Noreast.com and an introduction to new ones.

Yesterday, I received a LinkedIn message from Mr. Scocca alerting me to his newest website (which I had heard about from MakoMike a few weeks ago). Back in the day, I was one of the top ten posters on George's first site.

I moor my downeast-style bass boat (SORTIE) in Cos Cob harbor on the CT shore (due north from Oyster Bay). I also tow it up to Westport, MA on a regular basis with my 1st-generation Dodge diesel to venture to Cuttyhunk and Marthas Vineyard. Each Spring, I vow to get my boat in the water by May to catch the bass run, but I fail miserably on a consistent basis. I prefer to fish for bass at night, but last year was a bust and this year isn't looking much better. I like to participate in limited-load charters that Cany and others organize.

In the off-season, I shoot sporting clays and cross-country ski with my 22 year old daughter. I also race in rowing regattas in the Fall.

I won't be on this site as frequently as I was several years ago, but I'll try to weigh in as needed.

been there, done that. the boat can take it (re-powered in 2012) but the pilot can't! besides that, I can back the trailer up to a pump in Seekonk, MA and buy petrol for $2.40/gal (Global Crossroads station north of Exit 1 on 195). Haven't bought gas in CT or NY (much less at a marina) for three years now...

How do you like that inlet with a stiff SW and an outgoing ??QUOTE] State ramp in Westport MA is well-designed and available to me at any tide (tidal range in Westport is THREE FEET). Yes, the mouth of the Westport River is often sporty, but my boat was built for Buzzards Bay and is seaworthy in all sea conditions. That said, two of my hairiest outings have been in that body of water!
