While I would never call myself a birdwatcher, there is definitely something majestic and yes, patriotic, when seeing these raptors.
while I have seen them in Wyoming and Alaska, I recently spotted one in Quoque. Unforgettable. I know there are some in Glen Cove.
Where else on Long Island ?

There is a nesting pair in Cenetrport that have been getting a lot of attention. I read an article that stated the return of bunker has helped ospreys and eagles on the island. There are 4 nesting pair here. I see allot at my place upstate as my neighbor is the local deer butcher and they go there for scraps.

I'm blessed to see at least one virtually every day of the year and I've yet to tire of seeing them. However, they truly are thugs, hounding ospreys to steal their fish etc. Makes me think of ospreys as hard-working taxpayers and the eagle big government...

there are a bunch down this way - there's a nature preserve just before you get on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel from the Eastern Shore - it's a bald eagle nesting site & occasionally you'll spot them sitting on the lights on the bridge itself - I had two on top of my shed about a year or so ago - I've seen them & hawks "dusting it up" from time to time

Very coolWe clean fish for a couple hours a day at Tanaku. Eagles stand around the table like seagulls do here. Sometimes in June a couple dozen at a time. Later in July when the salmon go up river the eagles follow for an easy meal.
