Los Suenos, Costa Rica

As much as I like the frigid temps and stiff winds on Long Island in our winter months🙄, I do love a Costa Rican getaway. Im not sure if I'm able to make it this winter but here are a few pics from the past trips. We stay in Los Suenos about an hour taxi ride south of San Jose and rent golf carts for getting around the grounds. You can take a taxi if you want to leave the complex (which is a MarriotResort) but pretty much everything you need is on site. You can charter boats right there but obviously setting things up before you leave makes much more sense especially if days are limited. If you've been there, then you know why I love it...If you haven't maybe one year you'll get to enjoy it. The offshore varieties which we catch on a regular basis include sailfish, bluemarlin, black marlin, mahi, and yellowfintuna. Inshore there are roosterfish, amberjacks, cuberas, along with a variety of snappers and grouper just to name a few.

great place to stay - had that opportunity about 10 years ago - ended up catching my all time record fish - 450 # black marlin while trolling for sails

Los Suenos is a terrific place to stay after a long day of fishing.

Did you visit the Beatle Bar in town while you were there? 😉

really?

Place was packed the one & only time I was in there. Didn't know it was a "House of Ill Repute" when we went in there. Waiter at a local eatery suggested it. 20 of us walked in there. Now I know how a bunker feels when surrounded by a school of hungry strippers.
😱

While I didn't indulge - a couple of the group did.

Pretty wild time was had by all.

A friend of mine goes there every year to celebrate his friends birthday. His friend picks up the tab for the trip. His friend is into golf, so that's all they do. My friend has always wanted to go fishing there. I'll have to show him these pics.
