Semi surprised that nobody started a thread on this. A reasonably decent US squad just locked up a trip to the Knockout Round. They may actually go far this year!!

With a college head soccer director in the family we were obligated to pony up for some ticket$$$$. Lucky me, son organized some excellent seats for Argentina v. Algeria, 5 rows from the pitch in Kansas City. Was great to see the GOAT, Messi, in top form pulling off a Hat Trick. He looks fast on TV, but is even faster in person!!! We were afraid that his MLS stay would detract from his skills. Well that certainly wasn’t the case!!

the water breaks are lame! (to anyone who grew up playing the sport at a competitive level)

Other than that good round so far for the US of A. Sadly, my forza Italia didn't even make the show this year.

The Azurri are a disgrace. Sore subject for me as my cousin was on the 1990 national team. The Roberto Baggio era

Baggio was awesome! That's so cool that you have a cousin who played for the national team. Must have some great stories.

100% agreement on both counts. Not having an Italy Squad on the pitch is insane looking at some of the "inclusion" squads participating and the "Hydration" BS is really, "We need to figure out a way to sneak in commercials besides during the half break".

FIFA is an organized crime ring...

What’s your opinion on the Red Card, Yellow maybe; even at that.

The ref on the pitch didn't even call a foul!
If they can review a play and give a red card, the receiving team should be able to appeal.
BTW, the Brazilian ref who called the red card was previously involved in a game fixing scandal in Brazil but later cleared.......WTF?
FIFA is so corrupt.
