Had a memorable day yesterday, fluke fishing the river. The two of us must've had 75 fluke today in 2.5 hours. No keepers but easily one of the best days this year. We didn't keep count but averaging 6-8 keepers each drift for 12 or so drifts, it was an action packed morning. From upriver down to the inlet we found fish everywhere. I even hooked up when we were getting gas! The fish felt much warmer than last week and they certainly hit aggressively today. Hopefully they now turn on in the ocean too ....

I fished Jones Inlet yesterday ( 6/25) at the end of outgoing/beginning of Incoming tide and the Fluke Fishing was awful. Caught 2 short Fluke, a Dogfish and a Skate. I read the NY Angler up to date fishing forecast /report that said Jones Inlet was the place to fish and it said Green was the Color . Fished about 4 hours or so. Spoke to a guy at the Boat Ramp and he also said the Fluke Fishing was slow, said the bottom temp. was low. Didn't see any Fish landed nearby /anybody netting anything. If it's true the cold water delayed the fishing by a month, this is like fishing the end of May. I also tried the SE Side of the Meadowbrook Bridge and nothing. East Wind didn't help with an Incoming tide.
River fishing the water is warmer .
