I think we're gonna need a bigger spool!
I had two epic trips with Captain Hugh Chancy in Montauk. About a week ago I got my pb striper at 47# along with 12 or so others, mostly in the 20-30 pound range. What made it special was I caught it casting bucktails on the spinning rod I use for blackfish in Newport. I really thought I was going to get spooled, but somehow it all held together.
I went back Sunday with my buddy Mark and we had fewer total fish, but exceptional quality. 4 over 40 and 6 over 30 after all the other boats abandoned the area. This time on my conventional Al Goldberg blackfish rod, but with a bigger reel.
