On a sad note, John Richey of Terminal Tackle in Kings Park passed away a week or so ago. John was always there for friendly advice and guidance. His son will carry on at the shop. RIP

Very sad indeed. He was always very helpful when I would go there for annual bulk purchases of supplies. My condolences to his son and family.

Sorry to hear this, I buy virtually all my diamond jigs and poppers from him. He was a bit of a character though. The brass fittings on the "Avas" he sells are very soft and they get easily bent over when I bounce them on the rocky ledges here, which make up about 90% of my groundfish spots. I asked if he had any solutions, hoping he'd say he'd get some stiffer brass or shift to stainless. Of course in typical John style his response was, "Just don't bounce them on ledges!!" Considering his low prices vs. the number of times I hang on a ledge or lobster trap, the P&L still works out buying from him because it's rare that I actually break off the hook on a jig before it becomes part of the bottom scenery.
