Anybody ever notice . . .

People that know me, know where I stand on the last 30 years of political shenanigans. I will happily go face-to-face with anyone inclined to engage me on this subject. Believe me when I say that I've got PLENTY stored up for my next political debate - and trust me on this, I'm perfectly capable of going at it with anyone opposed to my views. But what I will NOT do is engage a faceless person, parked behind a monitor, in an endless back and forth storm of postings, as nothing will come of it other than hard feelings, and a migration of differing-minded people away from the site.

If you want to come here and post political stuff, well and fine. If not, don't. But let's keep it here and not let it migrate up the fora list. There's too few people left that will still post on sites like this - the "low-info FB generation" and all that. Let's not create any hard feelings that will pollute and cripple a promising new site in its infancy.

And that's my thinking on the subject. Now if you really want political preaching - come see me in person. Like I wrote, I've got PLENTY to say.

Right there with you Lep. I'll occasionally chime in on said threads is when there's a political meme/photo too poignant not to share or an obvious scientific error, *e.g.* The Earth is flat. Then again, some still believe that so I refuse getting into a game of wits with a "Nobel Laureate" 3 tacos short of a combination plate...

I like that our users feel the way Pete, and myself so. There’s is little to no action here, with a high percentage of lurkers. The best part is no polictal bs in the fishing boards.

the political thread is like a train wreck....no one wants to be on it...but you can't help looking. My opinion on NE was there should be no politics...my opinion here the same....but I do realize the difficulty in that and to at least "contain" it is a good idea. When I fished with or socialized with members of different views I never took into consideration their views on things in the world when forming an opinion of them....I actually liked many of them and we hit it off.....but there are a few who do not feel that way and that's ok...I'm older now and not here to impress anyone. As to changing anyones mind.....well like LEP said that is not going to happen and I know that....so why bother?? Well because it rubs me the wrong way that some think a political thread will be a milk crate for them and others to express one way views....believe it or not I am pretty open minded and independent,,,,I have voted for every single republican president who was elected since the 70s EXCEPT the current one. So maybe this will just die...but if not and anyone wants to know why the wall is a bad idea or things like that....well I'm your HUCKLEBERRY!!! So happy new year to all your crazy peeps.....and lets see where the new site goes and if George can capture "lightning in a bottle" again.

On NE it was a thread in the lounge here its a sub board in the Abyss just like the lounge

Politics have no place on a fishing website, this is how NE went wrong.
Certain members from the OTHER website, contributed nothing but innuendo and derogatory remarks outside the political thread when people were asking for advice or posted reports, those lounge people found a home to antagonize and infuriate other people who in general would probably not
get so worked up if not for the content of the thread.
I'm hoping this site does not go down that path.
Just my 2 cents.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I agree with FW, and guar-un-tee that there will be no antagonizing of other members here. One infraction and gone, as far as I'm concerned. No politically divisive or antagonistic posts will be tolerated. Not by me, anyway.
