Hello All,
First, I want to thank you all for the success on the rollout. So far so good, and considering this is traditionally the slow season for fishing boards around here, we are ahead of where I thought we’d be and I need you folks to thank for that.
I see a huge void in any one person taking the lead for the recreational angler, and with the many new regs coming down the pipe, including a saltwater fishing license again, I’d like to make this the go to site for decision makers to get a feel for what anglers are thinking.
With that said I will be adding an option for anglers to band together as a unit by simply checking off an option stating that they are a member of our fisheries management team. Basically a club. We will make up a badge to go with their profile. There will be no charge but it could be very effective. I can’t think of a single organization that’s out there organizing anglers in a way we need.
I have over 30-years of fisheries management under my belt and I have never seen it so complacent. Kids today have no clue how fast they could loose a fishery or the right to a fishery. Most have no clue that bass were once scarce or that bunker we’re all ending up as cat meal. Obviously there will be issues we don’t all agree with, but I promise we can effect change as long as we’re united.
I know the game well, ands it plays best behind closed doors with politicians that appreciate our votes. And I want to use the power of this site for our managers to be reminded that we’re back.
Thanks again all, I’m having a blast!
George
