Putting Spectra Line on a Fishing Reel

This is a video we did several years ago.

It demonstrates how to put spectra on a reel without putting monofilament or tape on the spool arbor.

By wrapping over the tag end, it is impossible for the line to slip on the spool. I used a large offshore reel for visual purposes. I also used hollow spectra. Solid spectra is installed using the same method.

We sometimes put a small piece of foam tape on the tag end so the tag doesn't slip when we are doing the initial wraps.

As reels get smaller and designed with spectra as the primary line, we have to be able to put as much line on the reel as possible to exploit the reels full capabilities.
