Captain Frank Blount, owner of the Frances Fleet would like to wish everyone a very happy new year. We plan adding more special trips like we introduced last year like the Marathon cod and fluke trips. Always been on the look out for special trips we will be adding through out the year.We had a very unsettled weather week and were not able to make it off the dock. We are still trying to sail daily at 5am for codfish. Last few January's have seen a surge in the codfish and it is only a matter of time until we can get back to the grounds and dialed in. Always call and check the weather and make sure we are sailing. For anymore information please call or look up us on the web at Francesfleet.com. We hope to see you at the rail soon.

Captain Frank Blount, owner of the Frances Fleet reported another windy week in Rhode Island. It has been a super windy fall and early winter. We were tied to the dock for the longest stretch since last March. We did a break in the weather on Saturday and made it to the grounds. The morning was still very sloppy from the week before and we had to anchor.Once it layed down we were able to drift and found a few fish. There was still a decent amount of scup and sea bass on the grounds we released safely. We are still trying to sail daily at 5am weather permitting. We are working on the upcoming 2019 scheduled. Always been on the look out for special trips we will be adding through out the year. We will have a final tuna scheduled posted in the next 3 weeks. We are planning on trying a July tuna trip. The last few years there has been a early bite.

We were able to get out on the grounds on Sunday and found a few codfish. The water was still on the dirty side. There was more bait showing up on the grounds as well. The water temperature is still about 3 degrees from where we would like to see it for a good winter bite. A few draggers did make it out this week and did report alot more bait on the grounds. Once we get a break in the weather we will be right back on the grounds. We are still trying to sail daily at 5am weather permitting. We are working on the upcoming 2019 scheduled. Captain Frank Blount, owner of the Frances Fleet reported a very chilly week in Rhode Island. The polar vortex keep us tied to the dock and frozen in at the beginning of the week. At the end of the week the sub zero wind chills finally broke and we were ready to sail. The boat is out on the grounds today but sadly will not have a report in time for this week. We are very hopeful with the temperatures finally getting to where we like them this time of the year. Only a few short years ago, Superbowl weekend was the kick start to a great winter season. We are still trying to sail daily at 5am weather permitting by reservation only. We have also finalized out 2019 tuna schedule. Last year we tried to mix it up and add more Long range trips. The weather did play a big factor in cancelling trips but we did listen to you and added more single overnights. The dates for the 3 days are :Aug 30th - Sept 2nd,Sept 9-11,Sept 23-25,Oct 7-9, and Oct 12-14. The overnight schedule is Sept 5-6,Sept 14-15,Sept 16-17,Sept 19-20,Sept 21-22,Sept 28-29,Sept 30-Oct1,Oct 3-4, and Oct 5-6. These trips have to be made by phone reservation with a deposit sent. The three day trips always book up fast and stern spots always go quick so do not miss out.We are trying to plan a July tuna trip as well. . The last few years there has been a early bite. Always call and check the weather and make sure we are sailing. For anymore information please call or look up us on the web at Francesfleet.com. We hope to see you at the rail soon.

> Mike,
Can you get them to sign up here so they can post their own reports?
I don't think they do that. I still get the reports every week from when I used to do the New England reports back when there was a Nor'east magazine. What's the difference if I do it or they do it?

> Well, considering that they are a RI based operation and this is a NY oriented website, I doubt there is much mileage there.
You know better than that Mike. They advertised in Nor'east Saltwater well before I was in New England. RI pulls from here and Montauk/North Fork pull customers from RI too.
But your reports are greatly appreciated. (y) I imagine it's tough nowadays for these captains to post everywhere. Be sure to tell Frank I said hello.
