My first post and hope I get it right.
My son and I did a long 4 day weekend last week down in the keys. We lucked out and visited during a pretty good patch reef mutton and yellowtail snapper bite. I lucked out and had a 15 LB fish on the morning trip and a personal best 17.5 LB mutton on the PM trip. My son also had a 10 LB fish and busted off a few other monsters. Fish were caught in only 25 feet of water on 20 LB spinning gear.
Amazing catching these fish in that shallow of water and they really test your angling skills - kind of like a cross between catching a tog and tuna,
Fished a local half day boat with only a 15 min ride to the grounds. Amazing fishery down there.
Had the fish cooked up at a local restaurant and was amazing.
Hope this post warms everyone up and I highly recommend a trip down there to help cure cabin fever.
Good luck with the new site.
