The push is on for a license, and between my post and our Social Media channels, we shook a lot of trees.

Not too bad for a start up.

I'm not surprised it has generated interest, but surprised and pleased that people seem to be fine with it IF monies go right back to marine causes. I've stayed out of the fray because of what you told me on the original NY License where the Legislature immediately pulled all DEC funding out of the State Budget and put the license money there. If this would be the future model, there would be sparse monies left over for proactive fishing related items like reef building, increased enforcement, population surveys, etc...

BTW, you do realize George that the whole "Party Boat Exemption?" discussion in this thread reignites our favorite discussion point of "Is a Charter/Headboat a Recreational or Commercial Operation in terms of fisheries regulations?"

Iโ€™m all for the license if they money will go straight back to the sport and the environment. Not into the governorโ€™s slush fund AKA the general fund.

More enforcement - boots on the ground - is desperately needed along with an artificial reef program that is all inclusive. By all inclusive I mean all of the Long Island Sound and the south shore.

I personally would love the chance to work for the DEC in my area. I know it is chock full of illegal activity in the form of shorts being caught and kept. Problem is they are not hiring.

I just had to call Albany yesterday as its been almost 5 weeks since I tried renewing my marine registry on line. They are supposedly reprinting it and resending it. I wondered if this thread did me in and that I was going to be a NY "test case" for a saltwater license !

And if I register online or on the phone for my hunting license, I never get the booklet of regs, despite asking for it.
