Daylight savings time

Just read that there are two bills in front of the ME legislature that would put us on Atlantic Time (EST+1) on a year round basis so we'd get that extra hour of PM daylight all the time. For me that's a huge (y)(y)(y) because I'm a horribly habitual morning person who has no problem waking up in the dark, but starts to doze off the instant that sun drops below the horizon. In this scenario we'd only be "different" from the rest of the Eastern Time Zone for the 4 month winter period.

This whole thing is ridiculous, unnecessary and a pita. Farmers and fisherman ignore it. Its time is gone. I recall back in 1974 there was a push because of the oil crisis and an uproar about the kiddies walking to school in the dark. Around here the helicopter mommies drive their kiddies five houses down to the bus stop and have them sit in the car until they see the bus coming. I would have died of embarrassment had my mother even been visible when I was waiting for the bus. Pussification of 'Merica ! Do I really need it to change the batteries in my smoke detectors ?

in South Florida at peak least light December 21, sunset is an hour later than 4:45pm NYC time or so, the 'Florida legislators' are pushing for the end of Daylight Savings Time stating it would benefit the Tourism industry... after all it is the SUNSHINE☀? STATE... cellfish...

Geography at it's finest, closer to the equator, the less impact on daily sunlight caused by the earth's axial tilt. On the equator it's always 12 hours sunlight, 12 hours dark.

In general, the same can be said for tides in that the rule of thumb is closer to the equator, the less tide you see. That's why FL averages maybe a 2' difference between MLW and MHW, while we deal with 9', much to the delight of those of us that like fishing in moving water...

There are some festivities beginning to take place on the lawn of the Eastern Shore Historical Society. Nice little Celtic (C pronounced as K - never understood why people called the Boston Celtics as though it was pronounced as a C - anywho I digress) themed vendors. Bought some Girl Scout Cookies.

One of the local breweries from Chincoteague Island - [Black Narrows Brewing]('https://blacknarrowsbrewing.com/') is there ready to dish out beer. Being as it was before noon I didn't partake (yet).

I see one of the members of the Town Council & go over to chat & find out why there are no people here for the parade & where the hell is the parade it's 11:20.
