Got a nice early start hunting for Stripers after warming myself up in Florida. Got out around March 30th up on the north shore. Water temps were still chilly at the beginning of the outgoing (42 degrees) and didn't find anything that trip. Ended up going out on April 6th a little further west. Found the absolute mother load of Bunker. People in the area were catching on chunks but I produced nothing on plugs. Decided to give that spot a try last week. Ended up going 8 for 10 on bass up to the 20lb class on surface metal lips and jigs with paddletail soft plastics. Not a bad night.

Decided to give that same spot another shot over the weekend for similar results. Big bass on metal lips is an absolute blast. Nothing like hearing the tail-smack in the middle of the pitch black quiet night followed by peeling drag.

Just a reminder to practice correct catch and release techniques on bass this season when you won't be keeping them. Mortality rates are alarmingly high and we need to make sure what we put back will survive. Check out the latest episode of the Surfcasting podcast for more info.

Tight lines and good luck this season!
