I have some real issues with this.
First & foremost:
***People would be unfairly rewarded for failing to pay off their debts***
"This pander will not only be incredibly costly, but it will be a slap in the face to those who have already struggled to pay off their student loans without government assistance." — Philip Klein, [Washington Examiner]('https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/elizabeth-warrens-plan-to-cancel-student-loan-debt-would-be-a-slap-in-the-face-to-all-those-who-struggled-to-pay-off-their-loans')
"A lot of people have sacrificed for years to pay back the money they borrowed — from their fellow citizens — for their education. They’d be justified in asking: If I had to pay it back, why don’t others?" — Editorial, [Chicago Tribune]('https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/editorials/ct-edit-student-loan-debt-warren-sanders-20190426-story.html')
It's kinda the same issue I have with Tax Forgiveness. You know. People didn't pay their taxes & some firm is hired to knock down the amount owed. I pay my taxes in full. Why should someone who screws theirs up be forgiven a large portion of it?
Same deal with Mortgage Forgiveness. They bought too much house or accepted a loan that they could probably never afford. That be their problem.
Bottomline? I live within my means...............
I realize there is more to this debate then "I paid mine. Others should pay theirs."

There’s already a program out there. That seems relatively fair to me. This is just a new way to pander to the masses.
