CINCO DI MAYO here is an interesting link to a time not so long ago that the Mexicans fought to keep the Americans out of their country....they were aided by other oppressed (mainly Irish catholics) people. They lost this war which was basically a land grab by the U.S. and had to give California..Arizona...New Mexico...Texas....Colorado....and parts of WHAT ARE NOW other states to the U.S. Not a judgement on my part just for your information.

Americans basically considered St Patricks ragtag battalion as treasonous scum.

true...but if they were not treated like chit by their own army maybe they would have stayed...typical RW mentality
In all, 50 Saint Patrick's Battalion members were officially executed by the U.S. Army. Collectively, this was the largest mass execution in United States history
and yes Cany it was about the French at the time just noting the wars for independence in general they endured and the IRONY of how they at one time wanted the gringos out of Mexico...and now it has turned around...not making a judgement just pointing it out...The strong conquer the weak and take what they want...and then get to write history. Pretty ironic eh...at least the Mexicans honored these moral soldiers to this day...where as as someone said they are treasonous scum...though not ragtag as they gave the U.S. army a beating in every battle they participated in
