I'll say this much - they're not after anything I'm fishing lately.
Got a late jump from the city and managed to fish from only 2-7. Porgies were very polite and willing, like the slightly homely girl at the end of the bar on a slow night, not really what you were after but you'll take it home anyway.
If sea robbins could fetch a dollar a piece I'd have made my gas money back and then some today. And big SOBs too - had to bust out the pliers to do surgery on a few of them to get my hooks back. Kept a few of the bigger Gulp stealing bastards for some stock.
And just when I thought I had that fluke I was after (and a damn big one at that, on some light tackle) - it turned out to be a nice gator blue, measuring in at just about 30". I know some folks aren't crazy about the blues, but gut 'em, ice 'em, then get them home and throw them in the smoker and you might view them differently. And the dog will take all the bluefish jerky you can make him.
Meanwhile, my APB for fluke is still out there. If anyone knows any milk distributors, I'll see if I can find a picture somewhere, it's been that long.

Fished several hours Saturday AM from Greenlawns to the Bug Light. One decent porgy (tossed back) and one short fluke and oh so many birds.
Rolled out again yesterday and my 12 year old son nailed a very nice 25 inch fluke. No shorts and yet again, a bunch of sea birds.
They really are bad eating, just a pain to clean
