Air show

The air show at Jones Beach this year is a little lacking in that the Canadian Snowbirds and the French aerial acrobatic team are not coming. (Joke all you want but watching a bunch of prop jobs does get old not to mention that without those two acts there is a lot of down time.) It seems that when its the Blue Angels turn, its a much grander show and the Navy isn't afraid to share the spotlight. Whatever. Just my annual reminder to anyone going. Unless you have an oceangoing boat leave it at the dock or in your driveway. I went the first two years by boat and sat in Zachs Bay. You can't see the inverted passes or the NYANG PJs jump into the ocean or the Golden Knights parachutists, etc. etc. from the bay unless maybe from the flying bridge of a 40 footer and then you ought to be in the ocean to start with. In addition you are a 1/4 mile or more further away from the action no matter where you are in the bay. Suck it up and leave the self defense items at home and join 200000 other brave souls on the beach.

I agree, there is no better place to see the show than from show center. And Zach's Bay is a freakin' zoo. Especially when everybody decides to leave at once. However I'm a passenger for this one, and I have to go where the boat goes.
And I agree, the Snowbirds put on an excellent show, the Blues are better than the T-birds (although it's a fairly fine line) and I liked both of them better when they were flying A-4 Skyhawks and T-38 Talons. They did more impressive maneuvers and the smaller planes turned faster so the pacing was better.

Stay safe this weekend. Hopefully your skipper has passed multiple boat handling seamanship classes with flying colors, lol. I am skipping this one, only the second one I will have missed since the air show returned to JB. Have had bronchitus/laryngitus (sic) for a week and while I will host an after party, it won't be me touching food or barbecue as I wouldn't wish this on anyone but enemies and liberals. (I didn't want to mention the end of show stampede out of Zachs in case my wife walked past. Its enough to make her think twice of ever going out on the boat again.) And before anyone jumps up on this, no, the boating safety certificate would not have prevented more than a small percentage of the assholes exiting Zachs in that manner.
