Triggers! Our tasty warm water friends are hanging around jetties and rocky structure. If you have not tried eating triggerfish yet I highly suggest it, make sure you have a sharp knife ? | ?@fish_the_northeast_ [/CENTER]

I catch them primarily in "the inlet area" of shinnecock as well as out out on the reef. I've heard stories of them being caught near the bridge pilings.
Never caught them in the open bay though

I would definitely give it a shot there.
I fish for them with the same style rigs I use for porgies or sea bass. Clam on 2/0 - 4/0 bait holders on high low rigs with a bank sinker at the bottom

Around the rocks, any docks, buoy chains, but usually very close to an inlet.

They have tougher skin than a blackfish. So here is some help. Good luck and good eating!

The real key to filleting them is having a super sharp edge on your knife. As others have said, their skin is super thick and tough, no scales...

Chinacat,

You said it. And be ready to sharpen after a couple of them.
