Enjoying the weekend at the Montauk Lake Club, the new summer home for the Jillybird IV. This morning my friend Eric and son Evin joined me for a trip over to Southwest Ledge where the striped bass have gone. Unfortunately our schedule didn’t coincide with the flood tide. Instead we had the last of the outgoing and a long slack period. That left us mostly catching lots and lots of sea bass.
Most sea bass were keepers but we sorted through the small ones and kept only larger ones until we caught our three man limit. We also had a couple of short fluke and one nice 21 inch keeper.
No stripers for the midday wrong tide expedition.
Beautiful weather and great company made for an excellent trip.
