I took a late morning solo ride to Cartwright again missing the tide. The place was loaded with boats but barren of fish. I caught one short sea bass and then decided to move on. I made a short move north to a spot with a lot of life on my sounder and immediately loaded up with big sea bass which I released.
Then I had to run all the way to Greenport to drop my boat off to have the generator removed. Somehow it sucker up sea water and is destroyed. Now the surveyor, the insurance company and I will try to figure out what went wrong and how to avoid a repeat on the next generator.
At least I will be able to use the boat — sans generator — while we figure this out.
By the way, there was a boat with two spear fishermen yesterday running around us at Southwest Ledge. Turns out one of them was Donny Junior. He and his buddy nailed some beautiful striped bass during slack tide while I was waiting for the incoming tide to start. If you go to his Instagram site, you can see my boat with the tower in the background in one of the photos.
