Montauk Point

Went back to the Point in search of a whole bass and a lot fewer sharks. Got there near the top of the tide. NWS called for 5-10mph and 3ft. The moon set quickly and the seas built to about 4ft while I trolled around North Bar. I was catching big (all 30+ in.) bluefish but was wary of leaving them in the water while taking them off the hook. The alternative - pulling a thrashing 32 inch bluefish with two treble hooks attached into the kayak - was no less attractive to sharks with all the thumping and banging. After my 4th gigantic bluefish and deteriorating conditions, I had to admit that I wasn't enjoying myself. I called it a night and resolved that I'd return during the day version of the same tide (12-3). Unfortunately, even though skies were overcast at worse during the drive back out, the Point itself was completely blanketed in fog this afternoon. Not (kayak) fishable.
