Got out in the Eastern Sound, on a rare Saturday trip, one of our Sons' wanted to come out & fish, love spending the day on the water with him, hate dealing with the launch ramp on a weekend. Light east wind & a flood tide, made for a comfortable sea bass trip, told him we would call it when the tide changes. Constant action with shorts, & managed to put 4 keepers on ice, in the belly of a 17" fish found a baby lobster & the fish was still hungry.IMG_7088.webpIMG_7096.webp

Right on the money, John Over the past several years I have also seen small lobsters either spit up or partially digested inside the Sea Bass we caught.

On my half day Sea Bass charter Friday one of our keepers spit up the largest one I have seen yet, measured almost a full 8". We used it for bait to catch 2 more keepers! No doubt the explosion of Sea Bass has taken its toll on the lobster population.

Cod just love little lobster snacks, virtually everyone I've ever filleted will have lobsters in their gut. The demise of GOM cod has been linked to rise of the lobster population.

At least in these parts while jigging for cod, you'll often end up snagging a nice lobstah for dinnah!!

And don't forget about the Gilded Age Striped Bass Gentlemen's Clubs along the south side of Cape Cod like Cuttyhunk where the Barons of Industry would enjoy a luxurious evening meal while their "people" would chum the area with smashed lobsters to bring in the cows, and bait the rods with lobster tails so the Lords of the Manors could enjoy their cognac and cigars out on the pier cranking in monster stripers...

Explains why the sea bass are such good eaters. We put ours on the hook for bait but I think it was too soft & didn’t last long.
