Got out while conditions were still calm and found a huge school of bass feed ing on spearing. It was like s hooting fish in a barrel, but all the fish were 24-30 inches. Probably caught about 20 of them before the outgoing tide running against the wind caused conditions to deteriorate quickly. Only once was there a little concern when the bait and the bass all suddenly scattered from beneath me. No doubt it was a shark, but I never actually saw it and I had no further interactions. It got so thick that I had to stop pedaling because the bass were slamming into the fins on my drive and I was afraid they'd get bent up. Only one small cocktail blue. All caught (and released) with a deep diving Crystal Minnow.

That shark stuff is crazy lol. Heard a story about a surf fisherman who used to fish the whole tide on this rock that he used to walk out to on low tide. Was swimming back because he had enough and had a large bass tied to his waist or something. Bass started freaking out when he was swimming back. Saw a fin as he was getting onto shore. Pretty crazy stuff.

It's uncanny the way the prey fish (blues/bass) will freak out when there are sharks around. There's no mistaking it. They immediately try to launch themselves from the water.
I've also noticed how a fish that I've caught and might be carrying that's still alive will get active again suddenly right before a fish strikes my lure. My theory is that even out of the water they can sense when a bite is triggered because of a signal they must give off. It's happened too often over too many years for me not to notice the correlation.
