Had the pleasure of sailing with my friend Ed and his son Dylan canyon fishing for yellowfin and mahi this past Saturday morning into Sunday afternoon. Dylan got his first canyon jigged Yellowfin. A beautiful 75-80 lber. We had horrible wind against tide conditions, blue dogs all night eating our chunks and our baits. Porpoises showed up also eating the chunks and that was it for the tuna . Still we had trip saver with a 3 man limit of tasty mahi for our families and friends. We beat the coming storm and raced home in time. Dylan a very hardcore 14 year old sharpie. 2 miles from jetty at Jones, he spotted birds and we stopped for him to jig striped bass. He hooked and lost a short and Ed & I said time to go home. Fresh yellowfin cannot be beat. My daughter in law had sashimi as soon as she got the yellowfin(Ahi) and then prepared seared Ahi with furikake and rice for my grandaughter who loved it.
Beautiful. I am blessed.

Hey Ed, how are you, geez are we getting old, I still think about that Bluefin trip we took on the Atlantis Princess with Jeff Gutman, as Co captain.
Those were the days.
Glad to see your still tuna fishing and with your son, I stopped about 10 yrs ago, just couldn't justify the cost to fish ratio.
Take care, Jay
