Brothers, everything you hear about tog fishing in Rhode Island does not do justice to experiencing it in person. The captain of our six pack apologized that it was slower than usual and that the fish weren't larger . We harvested a full boat limit of 30 keeper tog to about 10 lbs keeping nothing smaller than 20 inches. Another 10 keepers for the mate and Captain and we were throwing back keepers. I had 7 tog keepers to 6lbs(ORL), about 20 shorts to 15 inches plus, a handful of keeper sea bass and a special surprise. Using a 1 1/2 ounce tog jig and whole white crab and spinning tackle I muscled up a nice 10 lb. green cod in 70 feet of water. It does not get any better than that. The really best part was that the conditions were so perfect, I never touched a sinker and hook the entire trip. I only used tog jigs and a spinning jigging rod and reel combo exclusively. Only lost one jig all day. I was only guy jigging exclusively and lucky to manage to be second high hook. If you can manage it next season, you should really consider tog fishing Rhode Island. You will be amazed. Awesome!!!(y) (y)
