Been getting nice catches of all three. My old south shore estuaries have been producing some nice catches of white perch. Westerner Suffolk and eastern Nassau areas. Trout stocking happened back in the fall so most lake and ponds have a nice winter holdover, Fished a few times for herring on the north shore, western Nassau area and wow. They are loaded up at my local pier. Did really good during the day that a night trip wasnt necessary,

Hang a burlap, not a plastic one but the real burlap cloth one. Any produce market will have them. Hang it in the water at a bulkhead, dock pier against the wall or piling. Let it sit for a day or two, better with 2 days soak. Lift it out slowly and then shake It out. Grass shrimp will fall off pick em up and put in a container. They freeze well in the saltwater.

Did not want to start a new thread. Tried white perch with no success today, but was able to nab 2 fat yellow perch at 13-13.5 inches earlier today. 1/16 jig head with a 2 inch brown grub. Tried for trout too with no success.
Where were you fishing?

Listen, any pond with a weed bed in 4-6 feet of water. Fish slow and low and small.
Thanks. Blydenburg was loaded with moss-like green slimy weeds. It was impossible to work spinners.

Drop the line down to 4# and keep a 1/16 jig with a 2 inch grub above the slime. They are there!
