They could have been dropped just offshore of Japan with a warning that the next would be on their island. The Soviets were about to invade Japan - the Japanese knew that.

From what I've read & recall - the actually bombing was more to impress/deter the Soviets.

The current impeachment trial is an investigation into abuse of power.....allegations leveled against trump not by democrats but by his own party members...appointees...and insiders. By law the house has to impeach a president under these situations.....it's not a choice.
