Causeway in Wantagh is open for phone orders and they will bring it outside for you. I picked up bait from them yesterday.

The same for j&j in Patchogue. You should call the shop in advance. Many shops can bring your products out too your vehicle.

It's OK to go into a7/11, Dunken Donuts and your local liquor store. But you can't go into a tackle shop that will get us outdoors and away from people.

Get used to Gulp if you haven't already. Less gut hooked fish anyway.

Many tackle shops that were taking call-ins had to shut down. I believe J&J in Patchogue is still open with orders being sent outside for pickup.

Now I am wondering if I will fish at all this year. I am sure if the virus persists they will be closing parks and beaches completely since there are simply still too many asshats that still insist on playing catch barehanded, sitting together on each others porches, walking in large groups, etc.

Jack's Bait Tackle in City Island was open last time I called. Pull into parking lot and there's an order window.

It's good to see he's open. There's a lot of good fishing in that region this time of year!

I wonder how the small locals are going to make it. I have a few near me like Miller Place bait and tackle and Caraftis fishing station. The fluke season starts May 4th (I think). That is when most will kick it into gear. But these guys can't order stuff and have to pay for it when they don't know when they will be allowed to open.

Government officials are in a no-win scenario. Keep business closed and the economy tanks as all the small shops we use go out of business. This includes all the restaurants and other small shops. Allow the economy to re-open May 1st, everyone that dies is on the official (or so it will be portrayed.) One governor said he was extending. He would not open until the virus was defeated. When have we ever defeated a virus? The flu? The common cold? It will take time to develop effective treatments and vaccine.

Not sure what NY will do.

I should not have to drive from Rocky Point to the Bronx (Jack's Bait Tackle) to get bait and tackle. Plus all the beaches and ramps are closed.

I know you don't want to hear this, but many will go under and you will be using Gulp exclusively. I just had to order some "string toggle spring jacket catches" for my waist high waders from Amazon as Michael's, JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby etc. are all closed. Figure with all the ramps closed I will be doing more surfcasting, that is, if the beaches remain accessible which with all the asshats congregating is definitely in doubt as well. If Fisherman's Source in Joisey is still open, or SRMO along with Ebay, they will get you by tackle-wise as well.
