Jamaica Bay Update - Misfit Kayak Fishing Team Finds a Way...

Yesterday morning the team and I drove an hour and 20 from 3 different directions in the hopes of replicating our good fortune on Saturday, only to get to Floyd Bennett Field and be turned away at the gate. The park closed Monday. (sad trombone)

Plan "B": Get in some other way. I had launched from the other side of the bay before from the Cross Bay Boulevard kayak launch. We drove there to find the lot closed but with enough room for us to squeeze our cars in outside the gate. They left us an inch. That was all we needed.

Once on the water we headed west past Canarsie Pier and south toward Floyd Bennett. We caught a ton of schoolies and e few that were very close to keepers. Beautiful day on the water. Best action was still on the troll, about 10-15 feet down. No birds to mark them.
