Are we talking remakes, or sequels?
There's very few remakes that were worth the effort. I can only think of a few times where, even if it was well made, I didn't think, "Why bother? It was about the same as the original." But I could say that for music too. If you're not going to change up the arrangement and bring something fresh to it, why not just re-release the original?
