The morning started off well with a few short Fluke and Sea Bass followed quickly by a nice 3.5# Fluke decked by Niki and another 19” keeper taken on the second drift. But soon the pattern turned into a steady supply of shorts on both species. To be sure we did see a keeper here and there on both the Fluke and Sea Bass side of the scoreboard but the number of shorts remined very high.
The crew worked hard all morning and into the afternoon and eventually Kevin decked a nice 4# Fluke while Paul boxed a healthy 3#+ Sea Bass. The final total for the day’s efforts wound up being 6 keepers each of Fluke (to 5.75#) and 6 Sea Bass (to 18”). A little frustrating since the overall number of fish decked were just shy of 90 today. But ultimately, Mother Nature decides what the keeper ratio will be on any given day.
Regardless we were all treated to a beautiful day on the ocean with plenty of action, smiles, a lot of fun, and still some nice filet bags to cap the day’s effort.
