Since you mention it. I always find it interesting that people cry about the "richest city in the world" not taking care of it's homeless or elderly or mentally ill etc. Bit precious little ire exists for the fact that literally billions of dollars are bled into some of the least amount of miles per capita roadways on the planet and yet the infrastructure is falling down around our ears.

Where is the outcry for the indignity of the poor, suffering concrete?

City govt has no need for the roads
They hate cars
They love the $$ the provide for their precious mass transit hell hole
Other than that cars and the roads mean nothing

when the cars and drivers have left can’t wait to see what the transit fare becomes

Newyork will be as bad as or worse than either Chicago or Detroit

whatever, what I know is that before this project started and residing in downtown Manhattan, driving out to my favorite fishing grounds and back in, has always been a struggle… looks like I’ll have to adjust wit great patience and desire… cellfish… ????.

what’s amazing is that da Mayor D., okayed a Bike lane onda Brooklyn Bridge, which removes a full size car lane at da same time as this BQE shutdown… I’m not sure if DOT talks between themselves… brilliant… cellfish…

I used to drive the length of Bedford to avoid it ! Bicyclists would beat me to Sheepshead Bay !!

Progressive goal is to eliminate car traffic. Bike lanes are everywhere. Electric bikes outnumber non-electric and they use the bike lanes.

Can't drive to the city.
Subways are basically homeless hotels.

And crime.......

i headed out 11:30am to brooklyn yesterday via Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, aka (Gov. Carey tunnel) first time on a midweek.. passing industry city along the Gowanus Roadway, the TRAFFIC was at a crawls pace backed up all the way to at least the 65 Street entrance...

any driver expecting to get there on time by car, need to give themselves another +one Hour "sitting in traffic, bumper to bumper"., totally torturous, what a way to live... cellfish...
