My **NSS Moment **came this AM when a bimbo PR person for a local power company explained why there were so many power outages yesterday. It's been raining like crazy the past few days with the wind blowing like the Hammers of Hell. Virtually all the power lines in Maine are on poles and the state is heavily treed, with their roots implanted in full water-saturated soil.
So this company representative, standing in front of a shiny service truck with a cherry picker on it, dressed in brand new LL Bean garb with the company logo on it, along with a hard hat that couldn't be out of the box for more than 10 minutes, says "Well the reason for all the outages was the heavy wind blowing down poles, trees and limbs on our power lines."
So glad she explained that to me, I never would have guessed!! :rolleyes:

All of a sudden there are signs, flags and warnings about GWS!! With all the seals, tagged great whites and sonobuoys around, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
I caught a glimpse of a shark, and we're talking 2 seconds of viewing time, this past year. At 200 yds it would be irresponsible for me to state it was a great white, but it was a big shark, dorsal fin and upper caudal fin (tail) along the surface for a brief moment...
