Anyone make the switch yet? Everything is running so well on my laptop I'm loathe to switch over from Windows 10, which the computer came with. Previous experience with Windows has always steered me away from upgrading a OS, and my SOP has been nuking everything and doing a clean install of a new OS, but that takes way to time intensive right now.

Not yet, my old desktop can't get to Windows 10 version 20H2, fails everyday so W11 is out of the question.
Laptop says it's ready for it but I'm also hesitant to go there.

Yes, like you my 13 year old home made desktop won't run W11, but it's evolved into more of a video editing/network server machine over the years so it's fine. The laptop is the workhorse unit and is W11 compatible. Guess I'll hold out until the stop supporting W10...

IT guy at my office put another 8 ram in my work desktop to bring me up to 16, says I'd need it for W11.

My desktop still uses Windows XP. Works fine. Hasn't been supported for a few years, but no problems.

If Microsoft's history is any example you'd probably want to skip this one. The next one should be okay.

I was tempted to download it, but 10 is working well for me, and not sure how it will integrate with the apps and extensions I use, so will hold off for now.

There was an update today, now I have a PC Health Check in my desktop apps.

***PCs with Windows 10 will continue to get regular security updates until end of support—no sooner than 2025. (10/14/25)***

It's like every other upgrade is the pits, Windows Vista took the cake.

My thoughts exactly, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

Yes, it's the processor on my desktop that won't cut it with W11, it's got more than enough RAM. Glad that I have another 4 years to make a decision on whether or not to rebuild. It would have to be a complete rebuild, processor, motherboard, RAM and video card that work with the new mobo, although I'd probably go with integrated video, and a new power supply. Oh, and then a new case since I've got 2 Blu-Ray burners and 2 DVD burners, along with a IEEE1394 connector that would need a new home.

All those optical drives are a throw back to pre-streaming days of yore, back when NETFLIX only rented DVDs/BDs. I found it more convenient to "time shift" the rentals, making a copy of the disc to watch at my leisure and immediately sending the rented one back to NETFLIX to get the next one. In reality, a single DVD-R/BD-R burner would be more than adequate to me now, so I may just buy an off the shelf desktop that would have/accept one of my burners and allow me to get the IEEE1394 connection.

Crap just typing all the above gives me agita. I'll keep waiting and maybe a catastrophic hardware failure will force my hand...

I was bored today and after I did a periodic backup of my laptop, I decided WTH, and I let 'er rip. Only took about an hour and everything seems fine as of now. I'll post an update after I log a few dozen hours!!

One think I've noticed is that it screams in graphics!! Screen updates much quicker than before. I know that Win11 was optimized for Intel iRIS graphics, which my machine has, and the difference is striking.

Maybe I'll take the plunge with my laptop.

You know, I'm very pleased and highly recommend.

The upgrade didn't change ANY settings on your home screen, just shocking. Performance still rocks. NYA was often slow to update in Windows 10, but it updates at Warp 8 now.

The only things that let me know I upgraded are these two, trivial things:
[LIST=1]
[*]The taskbar icons are bigger than Windows 10, and the task bar looks more like an Mac's task bar, go figure

[*]The "Windows" screen, the screen you get when you hit the "Windows" key is very different. Took me a second to realize the Power button was the tiny thing on the bottom right.
