Cutting the cord question

Hulu, seems channel selection is limited. NBC only through getting Peacock etc. It seems that many of these services would require several additional subscriptions, and not include the ones I already subscribe too. We are not willing to give up stuff like HBO, the major networks or channels like Yes. Think I might be stuck.

By the time you add HBO Max, Showtime Anytime and others you're probably right back at square one with the costs.

What I thought. But we are tv addicts. I have gotten to not miss the movie theatre at all.

Yes, I constantly run the permutations and combinations and when running the numbers, it's all bad.

HOWEVER, that being said, never hurts to call your provider and ask to talk with the Retention Specialist, cutting out the initial lackeys. When you get that person, talk about getting ready to cut the cord, stressing that you've been a good customer, and what can they do to lower costs. I have to do this every February and usually knock off $40 the monthly bill that they try to raise it.

Not umbilical, cable. I know many of you have and wonder if what I must have is feasible.
Presently paying through the nose of Optimum (Altice.) Obviously we still need an internet connection. We do have Verizon house phone (its actually a repeater system called Home Phone Connect, and a family plan through my son for cell phones.
Only two of the TVs in the house are Smart TVs.

But here is the crux of the matter-

Need to have HBO, Showtime, Starz
Need to be able to see in "real time" CBS, NBC, Fox, ABC, a weather channel and channels like AMC, TNT, and those home and baking shows SWMBO is addicted to.
Gotta have my YES for Yankees.
Some way to record a show on one broadcast channel like NBC while watching CBS. (Perhaps streaming suffices ?)
and we presently and annually subscribe to Netflix, Prime, Fox Nation and Paramount+.
We don't drink, smoke, gamble etc. so our entertainment expense is basically TV and the occasional cruise.

With the must haves above, is cutting the cord even an option for us? (and want to do it all LEGALLY)

After Cany‘s recommendation, I ordered one of these for the back of the greatest other streaming device Cany got me a few years ago, the GoSurf worked great for years and still does, now this one will be the back up or I will use on on another TV.

The only "extra" I subsribe to is Netflix. If it's not on the channels I alreadey pay for - I don'r watch it. If I wanna watch a movie that's not available on what I have - I go to RedBox & see if they have it & then rent it for like $3.

So far there is more stuff on Netflix then I can watch in a lifetime.

actually a crumhy keyboard - keys are all light5 gray in coloc - as soon as the light begins to fade I can barely make out what letters I'm hitting. It's like typing blind.

He said "Legal" and having these devices isn't illegal, but using them to access copyrighted material from the Dark Web IS illegal. ***The law in the majority of countries, including the United States, is very clear: accessing pirated content is prohibited.***

Let's face it, if you're watching a movie at home that's only at movie theatres you've got to know that's "fishy"...

I know folks who can take legal devices like Amazon Fire TV boxes/sticks and load the software that allows for viewing Dark Web videos.

Now all that being said, if you're going to stray from the straight and narrow, I recommend a good VPN so nobody can trace illegal activity back to you...

Oh well. Held security clearances for 30 years. Still cut my hair sort and have never even smoked pot. Some peeps can’t change.
